Nissan’s prototype racecars were a force to be reckoned with in the late 1980′s and early 1990′s winning no less than three back-to-back IMSA championships with a young Geoff Brabham in the drivers seat. A new car was developed and built for the 1990 championship year designated the ‘NPT-90′. This new car sported an all aluminium engine block with a 4 valve cylinder head along with a honeycomb aluminium chassis designed by Trevor Harris and Carbon Fibre bodywork by aerodynamisist Yoshi Suzuka, who has more recently been involved in Nissan’s road car division optimizing the aerodynamics on the R35 GTR.
This particular Nissan, chassis number 90-12, was built up from an original Nissan chassis and comes complete with current HTP. The engine has only 2 hours of run time after an extensive rebuild at Nicholson Mclarren engines where the dyno report displays no less than 950bhp from the 3-litre twin turbo engine. The car runs on Pectel management, which is listed as part of the HTP as agreed by the FIA and has been optimized by Torque Developments International on their in house chassis dyno. The 6-speed Hewland VGC gearbox has been freshly rebuilt by JP Race at Silverstone with zero miles since rebuild. The chassis sports multi-adjustable ‘Quantum’ dampers and Carbon-Carbon brakes as the period specification dictates.
This car is phenomenally fast and in the right hands easily capable of outright wins in the historic Group-C championship. In its last race at Donington Park it lead for most of the race before a gear selector problem slowed it to third, the previous race at Silverstone Historic it scored the second fastest time of any Group-C car. The car is track ready and would be an ideal entrant in the forthcoming Le Mans 24 hour support race.

This is a car that was sold in Japan. I can get one similar for around the same price plus shipping. Shipping isn’t exactly expensive, but the legalization in the United States is very costly for this car.
